An outdoor table adorned with vibrant flowers and candles, perfect for an Aspen Thanksgiving gathering.

The holidays offer a great opportunity to gather with loved ones and celebrate with good fun, good food, and good company. Thanksgiving, in particular, is a favorite holiday for many who wish to do this. While people choose to spend Thanksgiving at home, having a destination Thanksgiving can make the holiday even more memorable and enjoyable—especially if you choose to travel for an Aspen Thanksgiving.

Aspen, Colorado is a gorgeous mountain town that boasts unbeatable scenic views, along with some of the best skiing in the world. To go to Aspen is to step into an enchanting world filled with sport, culture, and family values, making it a go-to holiday destination. Heading there towards Thanksgiving to hit the slopes? Enjoy these tips for making your destination Thanksgiving one for the books, from reserving a private chef and bartender to purchasing the perfect decor.

TIPS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE ASPEN THANKSGIVING

TIP 1: PLAN AHEAD

Yes, Aspen is known as a top luxury destination in the world, but remember—it’s a small mountain town. As such, getting specific items may be challenging. That’s why it’s crucial to plan ahead and get your requests in for decor, flowers, specific ingredients for your Thanksgiving meal, and other key holiday elements. That way, your concierge can work with vendors to get you the best Aspen has to offer. If something is unavailable, your concierge can arrange to get alternatives in a timely manner.

TIP 2: ESTABLISH AN ITINERARY

A thorough and detailed itinerary can help you keep your Thanksgiving on track, especially if you’re spending the holiday with a large group. Your concierge will assist you in establishing an itinerary for your Thanksgiving plans and distribute them to guests. Include key information on any pre-Thanksgiving activities, what time drinks will be served, and when dinner will be prepared so guests are in-the-know.

TIP 3: HAVE YOUR RESIDENCE DEEP CLEANED

You want to ensure our residence is clean for Thanksgiving, especially if you have guests joining you. Your concierge can arrange for your residence to be deep cleaned and well-organized before the holiday comes around. Communicate with your concierge if there are any places, in particular, you want the housekeeper or professional cleaner to pay special attention to.

TIP 4: HIRE A PERSONAL CHEF

If you choose to skip the reservations and have someone prepare dinner for you, hire a personal chef for in-home dinner service. Hiring a personal chef provides you with an exclusive Thanksgiving experience, complete with a custom menu filled with decadent dishes. Plan ahead for this service, though, as chefs often get booked up to six months in advance—especially around holidays. If you want a personal chef for Thanksgiving, your concierge can help make those arrangements. Also, get a headcount so you can properly prepare for dinner. The last thing you want is to be a plate short on Thanksgiving.

TIP 5: FIND A BACKUP RESTAURANT (JUST IN CASE)

It’s always wise to have a backup option for Thanksgiving dinner. If, for some reason, a personal chef cannot be booked, your concierge can assist you in making a reservation at a local Aspen restaurant. According to the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, these are the Aspen restaurants that have Thanksgiving options:

  • Ajax Tavern—If you are looking for those traditional Thanksgiving favorites, Ajax Tavern is your spot for $55 per person.
  • Element 47—Take advantage of this fine dining restaurant offering  a three-course Thanksgiving meal for $150 per person ($50 per child).
  • Prospect at Hotel Jerome—Located in the iconic Hotel Jerome, Prospect offers a four-course Harvest Feast menu featuring some classic and modern Thanksgiving dishes.

If you are interested in securing a backup option, tell your concierge what you’re looking for in terms of the meal, the drinks, the ambiance, and other important details you want present for Thanksgiving. That way, they have a clear understanding which types of dining establishments you’re looking for.

TIP 6: ARRANGE DECORATIONS

If you’re planning a Thanksgiving meal at your Aspen residence, make sure you make the place festive with classy and elegant Thanksgiving decorations. The right decor sets the mood, after all, which is why it’s crucial to establish a cohesive theme. Also, determine the decor pieces you’ll need, from wall art to florals.

For table floral decor, we recommend between two and three low centerpieces, as larger arrangements can crowd the area. They also allow guests to hold conversations without any major distractions. It’s also important to get the right cutlery, plates, linens, and glassware to bring the whole table together—which we, as concierge services, can help arrange.

TIP 7: HIRE A BARTENDER

Enhance your Aspen Thanksgiving by hiring a bartender to make delicious fall drinks you can’t get anywhere else. For instance, one of our favorite private bartending companies serves a cider sour and are featuring a carmel apple mule this year. Hiring your own bartender will spice up your Thanksgiving dinner and create a unique experience for yourself and your guests. If you do want to hire a bartender for your holiday, inform your concierge about it quickly so they can make arrangements as quickly as possible.

TIP 8: DON’T FORGET THE SWEET TREATS

Dessert is essential for Thanksgiving, but be warned—Aspen doesn’t have many bakeries, however there are great local pastry chefs that can whip up your favorite treats. This means it’s important to have your Thanksgiving desserts picked out in advance; and yes, those even include the classics, like pecan and pumpkin pie. Select your desserts and send them to your concierge so they can coordinate accordingly.

TIP 9: KNOW THE VENDOR CANCELLATION POLICIES

Things happen, and cancellations are sometimes necessary. Before you sign any contracts or reserve any services, make sure you understand vendor cancellation policies. Private chefs, for instance, may be strict with cancellations, especially if they turned down other business to serve you. Knowing specific cancellation policies can help you avoid the shock of unforeseen fees.

TIP 10: SCOUT OUT LOCAL ASPEN ACTIVITIES

The things that truly make an Aspen Thanksgiving so unforgettable are the special events that happen around town. Thanksgiving is a quieter time in Aspen, where there’s a lull before peak season hits. As such, the holiday activities feel more personal and exclusive. Some of these activities and events include:

  • The Aspen Turkey Trot—Perfect for the group that wants to run up an appetite before indulging in a Thanksgiving feast.
  • Throw Down in Low Down—This event is perfect for those spending Thanksgiving in Aspen Snowmass. Throw Down in Low Down will be the kick off event of Snowmass’ winter season, complete with some epic shredding from skiers and snowboarders. Head to Fanny Hill at Snowmass from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on November 25 for the event—entry is free.

TIP 11: HIT THE SLOPES FOR WORLD-CLASS SKIING

This year, Thanksgiving (November 24) also marks the beginning of Aspen Mountain and Snowmass’ winter seasons (Aspen Highlands’ starts on December 10 and Buttermilk’s starts on December 17.) Your concierge can arrange for you and your guests to ski during this time, whether you want to work up an appetite for your exclusive Thanksgiving dinner or hit the slopes the day after. If someone left the skis at home, don’t worry—your concierge can help arrange equipment rental if needed.

ABOUT ASPEN

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Aspen is a scenic town in Colorado filled with breathtaking natural beauty. Its image would forever be changed in 1940, when two key events happened: skiing came to town, and Walter and Elizabeth Paepcke moved to the area, ushering in a new era of Aspen culture. Today, Aspen’s population hovers just above 7,000.

WHY IS ASPEN SO POPULAR?

Aspen is a place where visitors get the best of both worlds—the serenity of natural beauty and the richness of a thriving culture. Afterwards, they can hit the town and experience high-end dining and shopping while embracing a thriving arts and entertainment scene.

And, of course, skiers flock to the area for its unbeatable slopes. Aspen is home to four incredible skiing areas: Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands, and Snowmass Village. Skiers of all ages and experience levels hit the terrain to glide on fresh powder and leave it all on the mountain in spectacular fashion.

ASPEN FAQS

1. WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ASPEN FOR SKI SEASON?

Since Aspen is a notable ski town, many people enjoy visiting the area during the colder months. Consider visiting from late December to March. That way, you can hit the famous slopes and really embrace the snowy spirit of Aspen.

2. HOW MANY DAYS SHOULD YOU SPEND IN ASPEN?

This depends on where you’re coming from. If you live close to Aspen, you could easily make an incredible experience out of a weekend trip. However, if you’ve never been and want to get the full experience, a week would be much better. That way, you get time to explore all Aspen has to offer before heading home.

3. IS ASPEN EXPENSIVE TO VISIT?

Aspen is expensive to visit, especially when you factor in skiing costs (lift tickets, equipment rental, dinners, private ski instructors, etc.) Plus, lodging rates may increase during peak ski season. However, there are ways to be cost effective such as buying multiple days of skiing at the same time and bundling rentals.

4. DO YOU NEED A CAR IN ASPEN?

While it certainly offers convenience to have a car while in Aspen, it’s actually not necessary to have a vehicle in town during warmer months. There is free public transportation between all four mountains and all high-end hotels have shuttle services. Aspen is also a very walkable town within the core.

During the winter months, we think it is worth it to have your concierge arrange transportation to and from the mountain and for evenings out, this way you avoid lugging heavy ski gear and walking in freezing temperatures at night.

A Day In The Life Of An ALC Client

A Day In The Life Of An ALC Client

MAKING LUXURY THE STANDARD

A day in the life Of an ALC Client featuring a white table adorned with a vase of colorful flowers, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.

MANY OF OUR CLIENTS RETURN TO THE ROARING FORK VALLEY ANNUALLY IN THE SUMMER AND WINTER. MOST OF OUR CONCIERGE CLIENTS ARE AMONG THE FORMER.

ONE CLIENT WHO CAME TO US RECENTLY HAS FELT OVERWHELMED WITH PLANNING ACTIVITIES FOR HER FAMILY, HANDLING ALL THE LOGISTICS, AND TRYING TO GET RESERVATIONS AT ASPEN’S TOP RESTAURANTS. SHE ALSO FELT LIKE SHE WAS MISSING OUT ON SOME OF THE BEST OF WHAT ASPEN HAD TO OFFER AND FOUND IT HARD TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT WAS NEW IN TOWN. SO THIS YEAR, SHE HIRED ALC TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF THIS SUMMER’S ASPEN VACATION.

BEFORE OUR CLIENT ARRIVED, WE COMPLETED AN INITIAL DISCOVERY CALL. WE EVALUATED HER LIKES AND DISLIKES, WHAT SHE AND HER FAMILY LOVE MOST ABOUT ASPEN, AND HOW WE CAN ENHANCE HER EXPERIENCE. FOR EXAMPLE, SHE TOLD US THAT IT’S DIFFICULT FOR HER TO UNWIND ON VACATION, SO WE ARRANGED FOR DOWNTIME AND CURATED WELLNESS EXPERIENCES DURING HER STAY.

WHEN SHE AND HER FAMILY ARRIVE IN ASPEN, THEY ARE GREETED ON THE TARMAC BY A G-CLASS SUV THAT WHISKS THEM AWAY TO THEIR LUXURY RENTAL IN ASPEN’S COVETED WEST END NEIGHBORHOOD. OUR DESTINATION MANAGER TAKES CARE OF THEIR LUGGAGE AND BRINGS EACH PIECE TO ITS DESIGNATED ROOM.  AT THEIR ASPEN HOME AWAY FROM HOME, THEY’RE GREETED WITH FRESH FLOWERS, THEIR CUSTOM ITINERARY, AN ALC CURATED SURVIVAL KIT, A FRESHLY STOCKED PANTRY AND REFRIGERATOR, AND THE TABLE WAS SET WITH A BEAUTIFUL TABLESCAPE FOR AN EVENING DINNER WITH A PRIVATE CHEF.

THE FOLLOWING DAY, THEIR ALC CONCIERGE COORDINATED AN E-BIKE RIDE TO MAROON BELLS WITH A PRIVATE GUIDE. ONCE THEY ARRIVE AT THE BELLS, THE GUIDE UNPACKS THEIR CHEF-PREPARED FAMILY-STYLE PICNIC FOR THEM TO ENJOY ALONG THE SHORE OF MAROON LAKE. WHEN THEY RETURN HOME, A CHILLED BOTTLE OF HER FAVORITE SPARKLING ROSÉ AWAITS HER AND HER HUSBAND TO ENJOY BEFORE THEIR RESERVATION AT BETULA, SITTING AT THEIR FAVORITE TABLE.

AFTER THEIR DAY OF ADVENTURE, SHE AND HER HUSBAND ENJOYED A DAY OF REST WITH PRIVATE IN-HOME YOGA AND SOUND BOWL MEDITATION IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON IN-HOME MASSAGES. THE NEXT DAY WAS BACK TO NATURE AND FAMILY TIME, WITH A LITTLE NELL SUNSET JEEP TOUR ON THE BACKSIDE OF ASPEN MOUNTAIN. ALC HAD REQUESTED OUR FAVORITE ADVENTURE GUIDE, WHO IS ALSO AN EXCELLENT PHOTOGRAPHER, TO CAPTURE THE FAMILY’S SPECIAL MOMENT ON THE MOUNTAIN. WHEN OUR CLIENT RETURNED FROM HER EXPERIENCE, SHE IMMEDIATELY SHARED PHOTOS OF THEIR INTIMATE MOMENT AND THANKED US FOR THE INCREDIBLE EVENING.

FINALLY, AFTER A BEAUTIFUL DAY WITH HER FAMILY, OUR CLIENT IS READY TO EXPERIENCE AN EVENING AT BOSQ. WE’VE ARRANGED TO HAVE THE CHEF AND OWNER BARCLAY C. DODGE COME TO THE TABLE FOR AN INTRODUCTION. WE COORDINATED WITH THE SOMMELIER TO SERVE A FLIGHT OF THEIR SELECTED BIODYNAMIC WINES.

THE FEEDBACK FROM OUR CLIENT WAS THAT SHE ONLY REGRETTED NOT REACHING OUT TO ALC SOONER FOR PERSONAL CONCIERGE SERVICES.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT CLIENT

A well-organized walk-in closet with a large mirror reflecting various clothing items.

OUR LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT (LM) CLIENTS ARE MOSTLY FULL-TIME ASPEN LOCALS, OR THEY SHARE TIME BETWEEN HOMES. FOR EXAMPLE, ONE OF OUR LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT CLIENTS SPLITS HIS TIME BETWEEN HIS HOME IN LA AND HIS HOME HERE IN ASPEN. HE IS ON A MONTHLY RETAINER FOR A DEDICATED LIFESTYLE MANAGER WHO COORDINATES HIS DAY-TO-DAY ERRANDS AND DOMESTIC AND PERSONAL NEEDS WHILE IN TOWN AND KEEPS THINGS RUNNING SMOOTHLY WHILE HE IS AWAY, LIKE RECEIVING PACKAGES AND COORDINATING HOUSEKEEPING.

BEFORE EVERY RETURN, ALC PRE-STOCKS HIS REFRIGERATOR WITH FOODS FROM WHOLE FOODS AND PRE-PREPARED MEALS FROM TUESDAY FOODS.  WHEN IN ASPEN, TO ENSURE HIS WORK DAY STARTS ON THE RIGHT FOOT, ALC TAKES CARE OF INVENTORY MANAGEMENT, SO HE NEVER RUNS OUT OF NECESSITIES, SUCH AS HIS FAVORITE SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS LIKE FROZEN BERRIES OR SPINACH. IN ADDITION, HE KNOWS THAT HIS DOG WILL BE WALKED MID-DAY DURING HIS WORKDAY, AND HIS DRY-CLEANING WILL BE PICKED UP AND DROPPED OFF. HIS DEDICATED LIFESTYLE MANAGER ALSO COORDINATED LESSONS WITH OUR PREFERRED PERSONAL CYCLING TRAINER AS OUR CLIENT IS TRAINING FOR A CYCLING TOUR IN THE ALPS.

ALC NOT ONLY ANTICIPATES THE SCHEDULED NEEDS OF OUR CLIENTS BUT WHEN UNEXPECTED SITUATIONS ARISE, ALC IS THERE TO ASSURE OUR CLIENT’S ACCESS AND EASE. FOR EXAMPLE, THIS CLIENT, IN PARTICULAR, HAD HIS MOTHER FLYING INTO ASPEN ONE AFTERNOON. HE PLANNED TO MEET HER AT THE AIRPORT AND HAVE LUNCH AT CASA TUA ASPEN. HOWEVER, AT AROUND TEN IN THE MORNING, HIS PLANS GOT DERAILED. FIRST, HIS MOTHER’S FLIGHT WAS DELAYED, AND DUE TO AN IMPORTANT CLIENT, NEGOTIATIONS NEEDED MORE OF HIS ATTENTION THAN HE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPECTED. HE NEEDED LAST-MINUTE ASSISTANCE WITH COORDINATING AIRPORT PICK-UP. AS WELL AS, HE NEEDED AN IMPORTANT DOCUMENT NOTARIZED AND FEDEXED ASAP. HE CONTACTED HIS DESIGNATED ALC LIFESTYLE MANAGER. HE RECEIVED A RESPONSE WITHIN TWENTY MINUTES AND HAD A CONFIRMATION THAT ALC WOULD ARRANGE TO HAVE HIS MOTHER PICKED UP AND TAKEN TO HIS HOUSE. WE WOULD ALSO GET THE DOCUMENTS PRINTED AND DELIVERED TO FEDEX. HE WOULD ONLY HAVE TO MEET HIS DEDICATED LIFESTYLE MANAGER AT THE NOTARY TO HAVE EVERYTHING SIGNED IN PERSON. HIS LIFESTYLE MANAGER ALSO ARRANGED FOR A CHEF-PREPARED MEAL TO BE DELIVERED, AND SHE PICKED UP HIS FAVORITE BOTTLE OF WINE TO BE PAIRED WITH THE MEAL.

THE CLIENT RESPONDED AT THE END OF THE DAY THAT HE APPRECIATED HOW QUICKLY AND DILIGENTLY ALC TURNED A CHAOTIC DAY INTO A STRESS-FREE EXPERIENCE. AS HE REFERS TO ALC AS HIS PERSONAL “FIXERS.” ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN, WE CAN GET IT DONE!

How To Visit To The Maroon Bells

Visiting the Maroon Bells

The iconic Maroon Bells, featuring stunning mountain reflections in a tranquil lake.
The Maroon Bells view from the lake

The Maroon Bells is a must-visit. Why? With breathtaking views, and over 300 million years of jagged stone development, this natural wonder never ceases to amaze. The series of peaks measure over 14,000 feet above the Maroon creek valley. The mountains kiss the sun during the day, and cradle the moon at night. The “Bells” as most call it, is a wildly popular in-season destination, so we recommend making reservations in advance. There are many ways to take in the sites, sounds and beauty of the Bells. Let us help guide you there…

The First Step in Visiting the “Bells”?

From May to October, the Maroon Bells are open for visitation. Online reservations are a must, so best to make these in advance.

How to Reserve Your Spot?

A reservation will solidify your trip via private vehicle or RFTA shuttle transportation. Aspen Luxury Concierge is happy to take care of these reservations. Should you, or your group, need to access them independently, this can be done via phone or email. If you are feeling athletic and adventurous, take in the sites via bike. If you don’t own your own bike, Aspen Luxury Concierge will be more than happy to secure a bike rental for the excursion.

What to Bring?

Aspen Luxury Concierge will see that you are all set and nourished for this day, or night, trek. Varying from activity to activity, you can camp, hike, bike ride or simply walk around. Make sure to wear SPF, bring a water bottle and a small snack if needed. We can oversee a picnic lunch that is packed and ready for you to enjoy amongst the sweeping views.

Pertinent Information:

Private vehicles are eligible for drop off between 6 AM to 8 AM without a reservation. If any passenger is dropped off they must have a shuttle ticket to return to Aspen Highlands. Maroon Bells is accessible 24 hours a day with the proper permitting.

Hiking Aspen

Hiking: Your Guide to Aspen’s Best Summer Trails

Aspen summers are magical, simply put. The Roaring Fork river moves the snow melt at a rushing pace, the days are warmer, brighter and longer. The mountain breeze evokes a sense of ease and hope that could make any visitor want to stay indefinitely. A large component of the magical equation are the mountains that make up Aspen’s backyard. Within these mountains are some of the most enjoyable trails to hike. Ranging in difficulty, we have broken down some of the best trails to hit this summer, and how to best prepare for them.

While trails vary in difficulty and terrain, it is important to prepare ahead of time by packing the appropriate essentials and doing your research. Difficulty, elevation gain, length etc..are all important factors when choosing the best route for you. We suggest to always wear a backpack and fill it with essentials. What are some of the essentials we suggest? Always: water, snacks (such as a larabar, trial mix or salted nuts), sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, light layers and a rain shell. If the trailhead provides physical maps at the start, it is important to grab one and throw it in your pack. Some things to think about adding are a picnic blanket, extra socks and a small first-aid kit. Should you and your group want to enjoy a more substantial lunch, Aspen Luxury Concierge is more than happy to arrange lunch boxes.

Ajax Trail

Beginning in Koch park, the Ajax trail measures 1.5 miles long and is dog friendly. Ideal for a casual hike at any point during the day. This trail contains mostly shade cover, but be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat. A small bottle of water should suffice for the trek. Afterward, walk over to Ajax tavern for a drink and appetizers, complete with views of Aspen mountain.

American Lake Trail

For those seeking a more challenging hike––with a beautiful lake view at the summit––American Lake is a must-visit. The trailhead parking lot is a sharp right off of Castle Creek Road, about 9.75 miles from town. This hike is not for the faint of heart. It’s nearly 7 miles roundtrip. Make sure to pack extra layers, plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks. We suggest a high-ankle hiking boot for ample ankle support. Dogs are allowed, but on-leash only.

Cathedral Lake

A difficult trail with a beautiful view. Cathedral Lake is a 5.3 out and back that is steep but worth the workout. This is a popular trail, so we suggest starting early AM to avoid the crowds. Dogs are allowed, but on leash only. Make sure to pack plenty of water and snacks. Sunscreen, baseball hat and chapstick are all suggested for this hike.

Chaparral Ranch Trail

Located in Woody Creek, this 3.5 mile long trail is ideal for walking, running or biking. Easy breezy and mildly challenging. Just a few miles from Aspen’s town center, this is a great place to start, or end, your day. Sunscreen and a hat are suggested as the sun is quite strong. Stop by Woody Creek Tavern post-activity for a margarita and snacks.

Crater Lake Trail

A shorter hike with beautiful views, including a start at the ever-popular Maroon Bells. This is an ideal day hike; which can be done solo, or with the entire family. It is dog friendly and quite popular, so it is suggested to start in the morning. It is 3.5 miles in total length––perfect for a pre-lunch workout. Make sure to wear a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle. While there are some trash receptacles at the base of the bells, it is best to be cautious and pack in and out, leaving no trace behind.

Those looking for a challenge, look no further than Grizzly Lake Trail. The drive in is bumpy at best, but worth the trek. You begin your hike at high altitude. Measuring 3.6 miles each way, totalling just over 7.2 miles roundtrip, you ascend quite a bit of feet. Make sure to pack plenty of water, a light lunch and healthy snacks. Electrolyte powders or tabs are suggested to help ease any onset of altitude sickness. This is dog friendly, so feel free to bring your canine friends!

Hunter Creek Trail

Hunter Creek trail is a fun adventure, easily accessible from town. It is a rocky dirt path you can run, hike or mountain bike on. Varying in length, you can easily make this short or long depending on your mood. There are trail maps along the way that provide detailed information. Bring your dog, because this is a dog friendly path. Take in the Aspen tree groves and sunshine while hiking along waterfalls. This route also links to additional trails in the Upper Hunter Creek Valley with a connector to Smuggler Mtn trails as well as links that connect to the Hunter Flats, Four Corners and Van Horn Park. A versatile and less intimidating hike.

Little Cloud Trail

A short and steep “up” that connects you to Aspen Mountain.  Little cloud is the perfect “little” trail. It is dog friendly and mostly shade covered, but best to wear a hat and bring a small water bottle. Looking for more of a challenge? Continue onward and straight up Aspen Mountain to the sundeck.

Lollipop Trail

A short 1 mile hike, walk or trail run located at the top of Smuggler Mountain. It is dog friendly and has tree cover for shade. Make sure to pack water and a snack in case. You may want to explore further and take some of the trail connectors leading to Smuggler or Hunter Creek.

Lost Man Trail

A long and idyllic hike you must try. There are a few ways to slice and dice this trek. We suggest starting at the top portion. Make sure to take two cars or hire a driver if you would like to hike from point A to point B. For those hiking an out and back, one car will suffice. What to pack? A light lunch, snacks, water, sunglasses, sunscreen and a baseball cap. Be sure to bring extra layers in your backpack. Think sweatshirt, a long sleeve and a light shell that is wind resistant and moisture wicking.

If you are looking to just take the out and back we suggest Lower Lost Man.  This out and back provides a fairly mellow single track trail with minimal elevation gain. It also includes the Lost Man Reservoir as well as one of the diversion canals that routes water from the West side of the Continental Divide to the East side via the Grizzly Reservoir.

Rio Grande Trail

This is the ultimate walking, running and biking trail. Mostly paved, this trail is dog friendly. Make sure to bring a leash as your dog can be on our off. Head towards woody creek and take the trail all the way to the Woody Creek Tavern for a bite to eat.

Private Activities In Aspen

Private Activities In Aspen

A picturesque snowy path meanders through the landscape, guiding the way to the nearby trees.

Let’s be honest, nobody likes these constantly changing health and safety measures. However, we all like the idea of being healthy and safe, so what if we just pivot a little this season? Yes, you can ski/snowboard and be socially distant as I’m sure a lot of you will do. But what else can you do with your friends and family while you’re in Aspen this winter and have peace of mind? Well, it just so happens that we specialize in “what else can I do?”

Here are some of our ideas:

PRIVATE SNOWMOBILE TOUR

Have fun, learn a lot, and enjoy this quintessential winter experience from T-Lazy 7 Ranch. You can choose from 2 unique snowmobile tours: Maroon Bells Tour (the most scenic) to picturesque Maroon Bells or the Klondike Lunch Tour for a view of fourteener Pyramid Peak (comes with lunch–wagyu burgers–and is most suitable for families and groups). Best part about snowmobiles? No experience is necessary! You just need to be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license to drive and at least 4 years old to ride. Fun for all!

*Tours book up quickly, so let your concierge know if this sounds like your kind of adventure right away!

PRIVATE CAT SKIING

Everyone loves to ski powder, and we know where to find it. Rent a full snowcat (10 people max, $5,500) and ride up the back of Aspen Mountain to the prime ungroomed areas. Two knowledgeable guides plus a gourmet lunch–we can’t think of a better way to spend the day.

A young skier navigates a snow-covered slope, highlighting the joy of skiing in a winter landscape.

PRIVATE CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

If you’re looking for a ski activity that doesn’t require you to stand in line for the gondola, you might want to consider a private guided cross-country skiing adventure at Aspen Snowmass Nordic Trail System. From Aspen Golf Course, you can cross-country ski with the whole family through 60+ miles of groomed trails varying from beginner to expert.

*Don’t forget to ask a concierge about cross-country ski rentals!

PRIVATE SNOWSHOEING TOUR

Combine a leisurely snowshoe walk through Aspen Mountain’s Richmond Ridge with an educational experience with a Naturalist from ACES (Aspen Center For Environmental Studies) and you get two hours of unforgettable memories. Snowshoeing is fun for the entire family (7 years and up) and includes a snack, a warm drink, and snowshoes.

*Tours also available at Snowmass.

Private Dog Sledding is one of the private activities in Aspen with a group of strong dogs working together to pull a sled across a winter scene.

PRIVATE DOG SLEDDING

Dogs and the backcountry–what could be better? Let 8-10 Alaskan Husky sled dogs twist and turn you through the Snowmass backcountry morning, afternoon, or at twilight. Each sled can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child.

A colorful dining arrangement showcasing red napkins and stylish place settings, ideal for special occasions.

BLUEBIRD IN A BOX

COVID-19 doesn’t have to ruin everything! With our preferred partner Bluebird In A Box, you can turn any night into a private party. This season, you might choose the Merry + Bright or Game Night box. No matter which you decide upon, rest assured that the hard work will be done for you. For instance, the Game Night box not only comes with curated menus (with recipes and grocery lists), suggestive cocktail pairings, and fun accessories but it also comes with plenty of games! A night at home never sounded so good.

2020/2021 Winter Aspen Dining Guide

A group of people gather around a table filled with food and wine, enjoying a delightful meal together with 2020/2021 winter Aspen dining guide

If we have gotten really good at anything this year, it’s how to adapt with change. Uncertainty has been the only constant, and so at Aspen Luxury Concierge, we have made it our mission to be the in-the-know so you can simply enjoy your luxury vacation.

Exquisite meals and dining experiences are a hallmark of Aspen, and we intend to make sure you still get the finest available. That said, we are encouraging our guests to consider alternatives to the traditional restaurant experience in the event of reduced capacity levels or other unforeseen circumstances.

Lucky for you, some of the best Aspen restaurants have decided to offer private chef services and catering so that you do not have to forfeit a thing. Here’s what we know so far.

PRIVATE CHEF & CATERING UPDATE

BOSQ

Just like he did this summer, Chef Barclay C. Dodge is offering his 30+ years of culinary experience outside his restaurant. While Bosq will still be open this season, he realizes not everyone wants to leave the house. Choose from a traditional private chef experience with your closest friends or what he calls the “Open Table” experience, in which you can pull up a chair and watch as he cooks, creates, and plates.

A beautifully arranged dessert on a white plate, highlighting its appealing colors and textures.

CAMPO DI FIORI

While Campo di Fiori offers catering for your next gathering at home, they have begun something new: a “Stock Your Fridge” option. The culinary experts at Campo will prepare customized meals for you and quite literally stock your fridge, complete with heating instructions. It really couldn’t get any easier!

FLOURISH TO THRIVE

If you are looking for private chef quality meal prep or someone to pre-prepare your family dinners, Chef Sarah Mandell is the ticket. Her commitment to bringing joy to your table is palpable with her mix of unique creations and the classics (may we suggest the Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Crust).

MEAT & CHEESE

Here’s something new. Meat & Cheese is offering Meal Kits this season! They will shop, chop, and prep your meal so you and your family can have dinner in 20 minutes or less. You can order online and pick up your meal at their commercial kitchen in the Aspen Airport Business Center. Done and done.

A group of people enjoying meals at tables outside a ski lodge with the winter atmosphere and scenic views.

ASPEN RESTAURANT UPDATE

*Please check back often as we update this restaurant list.

CLOUD 9

While Cloud 9 is known for champagne-spraying après parties, this year will look a little different. And that’s ok, because we all value our safety and health first and foremost, right? For lunch reservations made more than 30 days out, there is a required minimum spend of $250+ per person ($300+ per person over peak days) as well as a 75% deposit. Otherwise, reservations open 30 days in advance.

Only private dinners are allowed this year, requiring a buyout of a snowcat. Pricing includes the private snowcat ride, dinner, and one bottle of Champagne. Reservations are a must, so if you’re interested in either of these options, let ALC know right away.

MEAT & CHEESE

This season, Meat & Cheese will be offering lunch and dinner take-out and curbside delivery only. You can order online or call to place your order, but they suggest online if possible. Their farm shop will be open for in-store shopping (up to 4 guests with masks on) as well as online ordering, which can be picked up or shipped to you. And as it says above, there is always the Meal Kit option!

HOOCH

According to the powers at be, Hooch has removed their arm chairs and sofas and set up a formal dining room for this season. Don’t worry, you’ll still get the Hooch feel with the chandeliers and tableside Old Fashioned cart, but this winter, it’s more than just drinks. Dinner & Drinks at Hooch offers a three-course prix fixe menu with recommended cocktail and wine pairings for each. Reservations are required, so let ALC know if you want this underground, exclusive experience.

A vibrant cocktail with fresh blackberries and mint leaves, served in Aspen luxury bar.

BETULA

This winter season, Betula will be open for dinner only from 5-10pm (with the last reservation being at 10pm). Parties of 12 adults or more will require a prix fixe menu. Reservations are encouraged and begin six weeks out, so if this sounds good to you (and it should!) please let one of our concierges know so we can do our best to accommodate.

Speaking of reservations, Betula has already begun taking reservations for New Year’s Eve. This year, they will only have one seating with one party per table, but it still sounds pretty awesome to us: guests can arrive anytime and stay as late as the city of Aspen allows. There will be a DJ, party favors, a four-course dinner with caviar, truffle, and Bottomless “Cristal” Champagne all night while watching fireworks from the deck. It is $1000++ per person, fully prepaid at the time of booking.  If this sounds like your kind of party, let us know today!
